Among the remaining ruins of the kingdom of Jaffna, is an ancient palace. The residence of a minister to Sangiliyan the last king to rule Jaffna peninsula before the Portuguese invasion. This magnificent building is believed to be from the sixteenth century. It is now protected as an archaeological monument in the once capital city of Nallur. In Tamil it is called ‘manthiri Manai’ meaning ministers residence .
