Tropical Woods

The Makandawa Forest Reserve is one of Sri Lanka’s most pristine jungles. It has an area of 1155 hectares and is located near the hamlet of Kithulgala, one of Sri Lanka’s adventure sports destinations. The reserve is home to a diverse range of rare and unique plants and wildlife. It also conceals the Belilena Cave, one of Sri Lanka’s most well-known ancient treasures. Makandawa is also the location of the iconic World War II film, ‘The Bridge over the River Kwai.’
